McDonough Public Utility Services

The New York State Electric and Gas Corporation (NYSEG), an investor owned utility, services all towns and villages in the County. The exceptions being the Town of Lincklaen, which is serviced by Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation, and the Villages of Sherburne and Greene, whom operate their own municipal electric systems.

Natural Gas is available through the NYSEG Corporation to the City of Norwich, the Towns of New Berlin, North Norwich, Norwich, Otselic, Oxford, Plymouth, and Smyrna.

The primary forms of heating in McDonough are wood-fueled or oil-fired furnaces Some homes also utilize these fuels for heating water.

There are several local loggers that provide cord wood - cut and split to fit stoves and furnaces or log lengths for the "do-it-yourselfer". The area is served by Mirabito Fuel Group and Blueox Corporation for heating fuel deliveries.
