Rural Services Pavilion
Saturdays 9am – 12 noon
March/April – December
Offering fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, baked goods, honey, eggs,
maple syrup and handcrafted items. The Farmers Market accepts NYS Farmers Market
Nutrition Program coupons from WIC families and senior citizens. There is no
charge for a space and new vendors are always welcome.
Field of Dreams Community Garden and Walk Path
A community garden and paved walk path area are adjacent to the Farmers
Market. Anyone can "adopt" a garden plot, planting and caring for the flowers.
The gardens are open to all in the community for exercise and enjoyment.
Food Sense Program
A practical food buying program for people of all income levels. Paticipatis
purchase a monthly food package by paying $15.t0 early in the month at Rural
Services. (The average value of the package is $25.) The packages are delivered
at the end of the month and contain fresh fruits and vegetables, meat and other
food items. This program is open to all who want to stretch their family food
dollars.
Norwich Community Garden Project
A cooperative garden project allowing families to grow and harvest fresh
vegetables for themseleves and to distribute to others. Participants carpool
from Rual Services Tuesday and Friday mornings from June through September. Call
863-3825 to join this no-cost adventure and enjoy fresh vegetables all summer
long. Every one welcome!
Food Pantry
Rural Services coordinates the Cincinnatus Town Food Pantry (open Tues. and
Thurs. 3-4 pm). Rural Services provides emergency pantry services (Mon—Fri 0-t
and Sat 9012) to those needing food when their local food pantry is not
available.
Food Distribution
Bread, folls and desserts provided by Tops and Price Chopper Markets in
Norwich are given away on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-5[m. Occasionally,
either donations potatoes, venison and yogurt are also made available to all.
Counseling
Individuals Counseling and Grief Support Group are provided by Sister Pat
pounlin, CS???
Christmas Assistance Program
Rural Services coordinates this program for the are. Donations of chlothing
gifts for children and a family food package come from local churches,
organizations and individuals.
Take a Break Program
Offering social, educational and recreational programs of interest to the
community. Topics range from health and nutrition issues to creative crafts and
enrichment programs.
Information and Referral
If Rural Services cannot answer a need, referral to the appropriate agency
is made.
