| Although McDonough is
a rural town, distanced from more sophisticated metropolitan areas,
there is no lack of infrastructure. A telecommunications building
centered in town allows for faster Internet service. The surrounding
rolling hills provide beautiful views, but sometimes inhibit using an antenna for television reception can. Cable and dish systems are available from nearby vendors.
The primary highway that
runs south and west through town is State Route 220. Several paved
county roads merge into the state road at various points. The town
maintains several miles of packed dirt and seasonal roads that wind the
the country side providing access to residential and recreational areas.
The town roads are over-seen by the elected Town Highway Superintendent
and a small crew.
Public transportation
picks up passengers at the General Store and various places along the
routes to nearby towns and shopping centers. Taxi and limousine services
are also available. A local airport suitable for landing corporate jets
lies just north of Norwich. Larger airports are a short 30 - 60 minutes
away.
