| 4,625 acres of state
forest lies just 10 minutes northeast of McDonough. This unique parcel
offers upland and wetland, hiking
trails, parking, bird watching, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing,
hunting, fishing and trapping. This Wildlife Management
Area is located in the Town of Pharsalia, about 10 miles northwest
of Norwich and 10 miles southwest of Sherburne. NYS Route 23 borders part
of the west and south sides of the area and provides access to a system of
town and maintenance roads traversing the area.
Two primary attractions to
the Pharsalia State Forest are:
Pharsalia Snowmobile Trail
18.2 miles of marked trails with primitive camping, lean-to
and picnic area.
Multi-use trails for snowmobile, X-C skiing, hiking
and horseback riding.
