Chenango County promotes economic development
and partners with businesses with a variety of programs designed to help
reduce the financial burdens of startup or relocation. Contact the Chamber
of Commerce for more information.
Chenango County Industrial Development Agency:
The Chenango County Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA) is a corporate
governmental agency and public benefit corporation authorized to issue
Industrial Revenue Bonds (IRB’s) at low interest rates for the acquisition,
construction and reconstruction of manufacturing, warehousing, industrial,
research, commercial, recreation, and pollution control projects.
The CCIDA owns and operates an 18,000 sq. ft. industrial incubator building
built in 1990 which it leases for manufacturing, and the Earl B. Clark
Business Park in North Norwich, a 40 acre Greenfield Industrial Park
adjacent to Route 12. Additionally, the Bainbridge Industrial Development
Corporation is developing an industrial park in Bainbridge, NY along the
I-88 corridor. Other non-CCIDA parks are developing in the village of
Greene, Oxford and the Town of Sherburne (with all Village of Sherburne
utilities including municipal owned electric service.)
Chenango County Area Corporation:
The lead Economic Development organization for Chenango County, the Chenango
County Area Corporation, a non-profit corporation working directly in
retention and creation of jobs in Chenango County through business growth in
all sectors.
The CCAC offers three revolving loan funds:
1. An industrial fund to finance industrial construction, manufacturing
equipment and inventory where jobs are being created.
2. A Commercial District Revolving Loan Trust Fund for new and existing
businesses. Monies are available to be used for working capital and fixed
assets.
3. A historic preservation façade loan program for commercial and non-profit
buildings being renovated to maintain their historic integrity.
The CCAC owns and operates for economic development purposes, a 209,000 sq.
ft. administrative office and light manufacturing complex in the City of
Norwich known as The Eaton Center.
Greater Norwich Empire Zone:
A program targeted to attract and encourage business growth in the Greater
Norwich area. The zone offers vacant land, existing prime industrial and
commercial buildings, skilled workers and ample power and water. Not to
mention incentives such as tax credits, tax abatement and utility rate
savings. The zone is administered by The Chenango County Area Corporation.
